A recent example is the installation of four 35-metre folding rotor sails on the Newcastlemax vessel Berge Meru. The sails harness wind power to support propulsion,

helping reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions while maintaining full operational flexibility.

This is Berge Bulk’s second vessel equipped with rotor sail technology, following Berge Neblina in 2024, a sign that new technologies are moving from concept to everyday operations at sea.
