Recruitment Process

How do we handle your application?

The shipping companies we represent require us to carefully check and screen your background, qualifications and experience. In the following we explain to you about our recruitment process and how we handle your data. Please read carefully. By submitting your application, you give your consent to your data being handled and shared as outlined in the following.

The recruitment process at Danica Crewing Services Ltd (in the following “Danica”) begins once we have received your job application.

As an initial step, we will evaluate your application and compare it with our current vacancies to identify any match.

If we find that you qualify for an open position, we will continue to screen your application immediately. Applications that do not match a current vacancy at this stage will be kept on file, and we will screen your application and contact you in due course when we have an open position that may be suitable for you.

The first interview is with one of our recruiters. Following this interview, we will also ask you to perform a CES test (professional knowledge test), an English test, and other tests which our clients require. We only accept test results from tests which are taken under the supervision of Danica.

Following the interview with the recruiter and the testing, all officers, and some ratings, will also meet online with our senior captains or chief engineers for an in-depth interview about your knowledge, experience and leadership.

In this interview you can also request more technical details about the vessel we wish you to join.

If you apply for a senior officer’s position, you may also be interviewed by our senior management.

In many cases our clients will also require an interview with you. Usually, this interview is carried out online.

As a part of our screening process, we may contact your previous employers to obtain a reference.

All the documents and certificates you submit will be checked for authenticity in line with our company’s and the client’s requirements.

We may also initiate a background check of you and other further checks as deemed necessary by us to verify your suitability for employment with one of our clients.

Below you will find more details on how we handle your data. By applying with Danica, or otherwise using our services, you give your consent for using your data as described below.
